STATES 2011 Suffern vs. Smithtown East

Game stats/updates below!
For updates and standings of the rest of the Classes (AA, B, D) please see post below!

The good news for Suffern is that Baker defeated Penfield in the previous match, leaving a door open for the Mounties to make the finals. Suffern must win this match or they will be heading back to Rockland; more good news is that they should win this match. After facing the strongest team, and now playing the weakest team, Suffern should be in a good position. You have to remember that this is the State Final Four and that even the worst team here is still pretty damn good, but I think the Mounties can handle them. Hey, they have to.

Start time of match: 12:16 p.m.
Pretty even to start, Smithtown East leads 7-5.
Suffern calls a timeout, trailing 9-5.
Mounties back in the game, trail 12-10.
Penfield getting back in a groove, lead 16-12.
Sloppy serving again, Suffern trails 21-14.
Smithtown East wins the first set 25-16. Smithtown East leads the match 1-0.

Notes: I'm sorry there isn't much substance to the posts, but that's because there really isn't anything different to write. Suffern's setting isn't great and Smithtown is taking advantage of it. Whatever monkey is on Suffern's back need to leave soon, or else the Mounties will. Side note: Every winning team today has swept, not the greatest sign for Suffern.

Second set: Start time 12:40 p.m.
Smithtown East leads 7-2.
Finally the Mounties are playing like they know what is at stake, trail 11-8.
I spoke too soon, Smithtown East leads 18-9.
Smithtown East leads 22-13.
Smithtown East wins the second set 25-15. Smithtown East wins the match 2-0.
